Full Review: Luminary: Rise of the Goonzu

Luminary: The Rise of the Goonzu is a new style of MMORPG where the players drive their own economy.

Instead of the normal class selection we’ve all been through many times, Luminary lets you pick a weapon to specialize in. This is an interesting and fresh approach to class creation. The second you enter this 2D world, you will be given several different activities to partake in.

Yet another unique feature of Luminary is the questing system. As any RPG fan can tell you, going from your quest giver, to completing your quest, and back to the quest giver can be a real hassle. Luminary eliminates the last step, you will receive your quest XP instantly upon completing the quest.

Outside of the grind, there is a massive world of crafting to be discovered. In Luminary, every piece of armor and every weapon is the direct result of a players crafting. Resources can be looted off of slain enemies and used to make new items. Quite a clever system for a free to play game.

All of these components mixed together creates a very new look at MMORPG’s. Luminary is suggested to anyone that is sick of the ordinary.

The Good: Player driven economy. All around innovative game design.

The Bad: A sometimes unbalanced economy.
